Thursday 22 June
Registration at 5.15pm, Lecture at 5.45pm
Venue: Babraham Institute, Cambridge
This year's Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park and Cambridge
Network Open Lecture is entitled Testing Times and will be
given by Dr Paul G Debenham, Director of Life Sciences at
LGC.
Dr Debenham will discuss genetic testing and the growing
recognition for the value of diagnostic tests in this era
of evidence based medicine, especially as new genetic and
gene-based tests become increasingly available. He will contrast
this with the increasing regulatory environment, the scepticism
of clinicians and unease around the multiple suppliers.
This lecture will be accessible to all, giving the background
and controversial issues of this very current topic.
Dr Debenham has expertise gained from an academic and commercial
career. He was recently appointed to the Human Genetics Commission
(2004) and contributed to the 2003 White Paper on the future
provision of Genetic Services.
