This year's Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park and Cambridge Network Open Lecture is entitled Testing Times and will be given by Dr Paul G Debenham, Director of Life Sciences at LGC.

Dr Debenham will discuss genetic testing and the growing recognition for the value of diagnostic tests in this era of evidence based medicine, especially as new genetic and gene-based tests become increasingly available. He will contrast this with the increasing regulatory environment, the scepticism of clinicians and unease around the multiple suppliers.

This lecture will be accessible to all, giving the background and controversial issues of this very current topic.

Dr Debenham has expertise gained from an academic and commercial career. He was recently appointed to the Human Genetics Commission (2004) and contributed to the 2003 White Paper on the future provision of Genetic Services.
